Meet Our Online Business Faculty

Many backgrounds, one commitment: student success

At Globe University/Minnesota School of Business (GU/MSB), our online business faculty have a variety of professional and educational experiences, all of which they put to use in conducting our online business classes. Many of them have been online students themselves. They know what is needed to make an online class successful.

Shelly Baker
I have been teaching online for over three years. I hold Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees in business and am currently working on my Doctoral degree in Business Administration with a specialization in Management. I am a Branch Manager at a bank and am from Sioux Falls, SD.

Gregory Coughlin
I hold a BS in Accounting and a MBA from Strayer University. I am also working on a PhD in Education with a specialization in Leadership for Higher Education through Capella University. I have been working in higher education for about 2 ½ years. Before entering education, I worked in retail sales and marketing for 12 years and overlapped into my career in education.

Sarah Foslien
I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Business from the University of Minnesota–Duluth and a Master’s Degree in Business Communications from the University of St. Thomas in Minneapolis. I also studied for one year for a Doctorate in Marketing (Consumer Behavior) at the University of Minnesota. I have spent much of my career in Marketing Management with some smaller and some larger companies including Gemini, Inc., NordicTrack, Inc. and Deluxe Corporation. In addition, I have consulted for US Bank Corp, Andersen Windows and a bunch of technology start-up companies. As a volunteer, I work on programs through the Minneapolis Institute of Arts, Valley Outreach in Stillwater, and CAPP, a provider of fine arts grants.

Nancy Guthrie
My academic achievements include a Master’s degree in adult education, University of Minnesota, Wharton Executive Education program in finance, a Bachelor’s degree in political science and language. My human resources experience includes eight years working for CNT/McDATA in training and development; I created a virtual university for 2000 employees working with SkillSoft, as the content provider. I also served as Vice President and National Sales Manager for McGraw-Hill from 1994-1997. In addition, I worked for Dun & Bradstreet, Inc. in customer support and sales during a 16-year period, earning the position of Vice President of Sales.

Kathleen Henry
I have a BS in Workforce Education & Development from Southern Illinois University, and I received an MA in Organizational Development and a PhD in Human & Organizational Systems from the Fielding Graduate University. That pretty much means that I have a passion for most any field of inquiry related to behavior: sociology, social psychology, psychology, anthropology, political science and ethnology.

I have my own private international consulting firm specializing in executive leadership and strategic intervention. It is a fascinating time with so much focus on global expansion, leadership, ethics and diversity. I have worked in numerous industries: banking, wine, government, dot.com, public utility, and healthcare.

Kym Overland
I hold a BS in Mass Communications and Business from North Dakota State University in Fargo, ND, and an MA in Communications, with a focus in Crisis Communications, also from NDSU. In addition to teaching, I work as a public relations specialist at MeritCare Health System in Fargo, ND. To give you a little more information about my background, I spent five years as an emergency manager/emergency preparedness coordinator for the City of Fargo and Fargo Cass Public Health. While working as an emergency manager, I also taught Homeland Security courses.

Janice M. Spangenburg
I began my working career in the Navy. Since then I have had two successful management consulting practices where I worked with the government and the United States Postal Service and traveled throughout the United States.
