There are jobs that did not exist 10 years ago, such as airport security positions. An increased focus on child protection and domestic violence prevention means that there are more opportunities in protective services. A greater emphasis on victim’s rights has led to advocacy positions in the courts.

Can I become a police officer?
In most states, including Minnesota, graduates of two-year degree programs who plan on becoming law enforcement officers may require additional training beyond the associate degree, as determined by the POST Board. Some law enforcement agencies offer POST training to qualified job candidates. Depending on the job and the jurisdiction, graduates of programs like those at GU/MSB-Online are often qualified for the POST training offered by law enforcement agencies.
