Jump-start your college program with credit for prior learning
Globe University/Minnesota School of Business (GU/MSB) offers credit for prior education and training at other institutions. There are few limitations, and we make every effort to be sure that students receive all the credit to which they are entitled so they can complete their programs efficiently.
There are only three major limitations in determining how much credit students can receive for prior learning experiences:
- Except for Medical Assistant associate’s degree/diploma programs and the MBA program, a minimum of 25 percent of total program credits must be earned from GU/MSB. For the Medical Assistant and MBA programs, 50 percent of the program credits must be earned at GU/MSB.
- The courses for which a student requests credit must be appropriate and applicable to the student’s program and educational goals.
- The student must have earned a grade of C- or P and the course must be at the college level of 100/1000 (whichever applies) to have it considered for credit toward a GU/MSB program.

What credits transfer?
We carefully evaluate all requests for transfer credit so that students are not required to repeat courses unnecessarily and can complete their programs in a timely way. In general, we accept credit for successfully completed courses at other institutions accredited by agencies recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or in some cases institutions recognized through state regulatory bodies.
What if I want to transfer non-traditional learning credits?
In addition to reviewing credit requests for courses completed at other accredited institutions, GU/MSB will review requests for credit from other learning experiences such as the following:
- Professional training
- Licensing training
- Coursework at non-transferable institutions
- CLEP tests
- DANTES tests
- AP tests
- SkillSoft proficiency and training
We will conduct an evaluation of your prior learning credits. You will complete an assessment application and submit it with original copies of documentation. Our education department may request additional information for full recognition of your prior learning. Download our credit for work experience form.
I received a lot of training in the military. Can I transfer these credits?
We will consider awarding college credit for military service and training upon review of a military transcript. Comparable coursework on the transcript will be matched to GU/MSB courses. Students will need to request their transcripts from their military service by contacting one of these agencies:
- Sailor/Marine American Council on Education Registry Transcript (SMART)
- Army American Council on Education Registry Transcript Service (AARTS)
- Community College of the Air Force (CCAF)
- U.S. Coast Guard Institute (CGI)
Email GU/MSB's Military Student Services department. Call them at 866-342-3505 with any questions about transferring your military training and work experience.
